There's a laundry list of reasons this went bad, and only a few of those reasons have a name(). The community cannot or will not police themselves. There was a circus after almost every pug, about the same shit. And no one could or would do anything to address the issues. As if some of this shit was even within our abilities to fix.

If you managed to find someone on the staff with an actual interest in the game you'd find that their efforts tend to flounder and even fizzle out completely. Can't blame the state of the game on politics but unprofessional bias and behavior didn't help anyone, on any front.

Rain said he was thinking about another season. UT99 is still the best video game. Until timtim saves UT4.

I haven't been on IRC for a while, but shame to hear it came to its unavoidable death.

Game is great, but it is flawed like hell. At least iCTF speaking. There were some nice moments and it was indeed a beautiful run.

Hopefully ut4 will be the new shit. I won't be part of that generation, but i wish it really is!

Such a shame boys :(

All it takes is someone taking initiative, asking a few admins if they'd be available to contribute. After that, poll the community for a good option for a league or tourny, then go balls to the wall advertising. Irc ads in several channels on a timer, mass emails, and a few hype posts. Before you know it, people are pugging in the upcoming game type and the ut99 glory continues.

I would help out. But not much people show interest in the game it's not to hard to manage a draft. Honestly I think to start off a KOTG would be best to start off then a draft after or something. But instead of people posting here saying they miss pugs & stuff if people show that they still want to play UT99 & play some pugs maybe more people would show interest & someone would throw a cup or something I know I would waste my time to help with that.

Honestly sometimes it is healthy to move on. You can revive it 10 more times, each time community will be smaller, each time you will waste more time waiting for a pug (yeah yeah you don't have to wait! you can study, surf, fap, or face that you ain't doing shit), each time organizing some event will be less fruitful, each time you will feel less of a competition. There can't be only a few people promoting and doing extras. Everyone has to be excited, comment constantly on forums etc. In the last few leagues that excitement and comments were coming from the same 15 people. It was incomparable to how it was on globalunreal. With time passing people get fed up with some bs more quickly, and when you account for other death causing factors they will be less likely to come back.

It's really not that hard, it was an awesome game with awesome moments. We are not divorcing our life partner. Would probably still be a lot of fun to play on some lan party when everyone will be rusty and suck. Ba thas just my ophinion :-*

Its better to get it active again as soon as possible. The more time that goes by, the less hope there is.

Honestly like SJA said I have been seeing lots of more pug players in public especially yesterday felt like all day I was playing vs pug players. That's why I think UT99 still has a chance for a cup or too last another year. People want a draft or a KOTG just don't want to host 1 themselves or not sure how too.

I'll be around today to play some pugs. If no one shows up to pug, I'll be in the public servers.

We all should write down days & times we are available & whatever day & time is the most we should pick that day to pug for few hours & go from their. If theirs no teamspeak theirs plenty of people offering teamspeaks to use even us at #UT4.eu have like 3 teamspeaks & we only use 1

#UT4.eu is just a worse version of what #passionategaming was. They play direct ports of ut99 maps and it's basically attempting to be ut99 ig but with lame extra movement additions, worse netcode (on euro servers too), half time, bad mouse input, scaling that doesn't make sense, and even more turtley gameplay thanks to the ease of hitting the huge models (among other factors). Who wants a worse version of what we already had for so long?

Outsider here :P nah UT99 isn't dead, plenty of stuff going on including developer ends.

There is also fraggednation (idk about anywhere else beside here as on the website competition set up for UT99, excluding irc pug) still working and going for UT99. Heh..

/me poke to all admin: Evilgrins been trying to sign up on this forum but his account isn't validated he say. Would someone kindly approve him? There is maybe also some other. *wave!*
