The enforcement has helped but 10 minutes is still way too long.

It's really stupid because when I pug I think hmmm each map is 20 minutes each so 40 minutes plus 10 minutes so game should only take 50 minutes but sometimes I be sitting their for a hour & a half because people taking way to long & constantly switching servers & even when 2nd map comes it sometimes takes people like 7 minutes to click so a pug that should take at most a hour lasts like a hour & a half sometimes more because of overtime sometimes I almost dead pug because I got other shit to do but pug takes a hr to fricken start.

It doesnt take 30 second to start TS, it takes like 5 seconds or so on average, and takes about 5-15 to open up UT and get in the server. In total thats about 20 seconds.

Counter strike starts in less than 5 minutes. So using this as an efficient and promising reference, the time should be cut down to 6 minutes. Agreed that 8 minutes is to long.

I believe 3min is too short, as sometimes people join at 8 or 9 out of 10 so they don't miss the pug and then notify they are going to restart PC after team selection. Not everyone has an SSD (though they should, they're amazing for OS boot times).

Somewhere between 5-7min is a nice area - 10min is way too long these days and people are taking advantage of it, turning it into 15m or more to start. That is unacceptable in my opinion.

My practice time patience was ruined long ago in Project Frag by smookah, I have learnt many things in the practice time from juggling, nun chucks and playing keep uppies with other players in the server.

I dont think I can be on time ever again without having a mental breakdown....

Considerably, 8 minutes should be more than enough. Sometimes people after the pug is filled and teams are already picked, a lot of people like to grab some food or snacks or even use the toilet. But it should take more than 8-10 minutes. Even if you don't have a SSD nowadays, it takes like 3mins for a regular HDD to boot up and get you to windows.

Is this ever going to be altered? I'd like to see a new rule in full effect beginning this weekend. Would LOVE to see a 5 minute rule. People need to learn to prepare for the pug BEFORE they join (get food, go to the bathroom, restart their PC and/or modem/router, etc etc). People should be pugging up ready to go.

We'll be implementing the 8 minute rule on draft night and posting a new set of rules. Perfect time for people to get acquainted with them.

i havent pugged for a while, but the thing that annoys me most is that when teams are set and ppl start joining ts and server some of them say things like:

brb toilet
brb smoke
brb
brb food is rdy give me a few minutes

shit like that really pisses me off.

join the pug, when teams are made go ts when server is announced go there and freaking click in. all this should take less then 5 minutes

I dont see any point in stalling.. Im usually in and clicked within first couple of minutes... along with about 3 or 4 others on average. Its usually the same people that consistantly join towards the later part of the time limit

This community has gotta be the biggest bunch of drama queens I've ever seen when it comes to joining servers. I'm in the server and on ts within 30 seconds almost every game.

I can understand being late occasionally, that's why I can live with an 8 minute rule. Like one pug out of 100, I might take 8 minutes too. But it's these same assholes every time who have to fucking smoke 4 fucking cigarettes before each pug that are making me wait 20 minutes for a pug to start. It's not that fucking hard?????????????????????? Stop doing your nails every time you join a fuckin pug??????????????????? I once took a shower after teams were picked and still got in the server before everybody??? It's pretty out of hand. That said, I don't think it should be an extended ban. Just a few hours tops, especially if they have a legit reason and don't frequently break the rule.

I don't know how you tolerate such behavior but this is part of the reason the game is dead.

I waited 30 min for a pug that i had to wait another 20 min to start. After that switching maps i had to wait another 10 min to start. This is unbearable and quite frankly unsustainable.

This is why this game and community gets fewer and fewer players by the day. Instead of making clean and functional you direct yourself in things that interest noone :?

Personally you won't see me pugging anytime soon. Hopefully more people do it so you get the message.

The rule was supposed to be changed months ago. The admins don't seem to care, or use the excuse that they ban when they are around, but don't make an effort to have a well rounded staff that is pretty much always around. Instead, half (or more) of the ops don't do anything op related in the channel. Having ops is just a status for them, with no real obligation or sense of duty. The pug admins need revamped badly.

It's an issue. I think the admins enforced the rule for one week or so, and the start times of pugs were starting to noticeably improve. It didn't last long though, and things quickly reverted back to 20-30 min start times. And I'm someone who waits to join the server until 8-9 mins have passed because I know it's pointless joining right away as you'll be sitting there waiting for 15 mins for everyone to join.

As I stated in my thread about flowx a couple months ago, the admin staff piticulary for pugs needs to be revamped or nothing will ever change but of course because it's me stating that it doesn't get any thought or consideration. You can't have 90% of ops who are barely active and essentially never play, people have other issues all the time and admins are either not there, or just don't care and tell you to pm someone else.

As I said before and I'll say it again. Active, responsible people who care and actually want to help admin the channel need to be added to the pug admin staff, or nothing will ever change.

I agree I thought something would be done about this, everyones computer should now be able to start up ut and ts in about less than 1 minute. So i think 10 minutes is way to long, reduced to 6-8 minutes will save time for everyone in the long run, and 6-8 minutes is enough to do the following, take a shit, eat a snack, smoke, make coffee, etc.. hell you could even do all 4 at the same time.

It's not about the time. It's about enforcing the rules. You can make it 2 minutes, it doesn't matter if it's never enforced.

Yet the minute we ban a single one of you for breaking the rules, ANY RULE, the admins get assaulted with pm's saying "blah blah blah it wasn't my fault" or "blah blah blah admin abuse blah blah fuck you" and my personal favorite "blah blah blah you are worst admin since xxxx why do you have ops blah blah". True stories.

The fact some of you are on irc 24/7 and complain that ops aren't around as much as you are is kind of laughable. Some of us have responsibilities and priorities in the real world. We're not here to wipe your lip and get you to burp after feeding time, or change your diaper when you shit yourselves.

If a guy no shows and an op isn't around to deal with it - find a sub, report any logs to an admin of your choice, or even make a post or send a pm on forums with the relevant information such as when, who, why, etc. Take some responsibilities upon yourselves to report the actual breaking of pug rules. Keep any and all he said/she said bullshit out of the request. Stick to facts and you will have a much easier time finding a resolution for your perceived "issues" that may arise while an admin isn't there to pat you on the head and tell you everything will be ok.

Or use #ipugbans - the place to go if someone breaks rules and you want them banned if an admin doesn't happen to be reading at that exact moment.

I would have voted for 3min. in ip/ts and another 3min. to select map and click in. Those that need to learn a map (like me) should get in server quick and take a look at the roots and map config (they would have 6min. total do do so). Not talking about game types that have pickups (like sdom, nwctf, etc), those should take at least 10min. from select ip to click in.
But hey i'm new around so i'm probably not making sense ^_^ lol
