So you might be wondering: what is bictf?

bictf stands for: beta ictf.
It is exactly like ictf (same rules) except captains pick beta ictf maps - so it's a great way to test out the new maps.

Are we still allowed to pick beta maps in regular ictf pugs?

I like the idea of getting people to pug the new maps but I think it's important that the main pug allows beta maps. There's not long left till season starts and not unreasonable for players to assume there might be some new maps picked if you pug up. That's how it worked in sdom, and we just used the same mod in guber

Yes beta maps can be picked in normal pugs until draft.

However a normal pug has a possibility of a beta map being chosen vis a vis beta pug where you're definitely going to play 2 beta maps.

beta maps would get more play if a captain could just pick it and not have the other team dp.

Captains can pick a beta map without other captains' consent until draft (2 Nov) except HOG. Rule might be changed if necessary.
