Negative accel with high DPI in UT99

Postby RickJames » Sat Mar 28, 2015 11:35 pm

So I have an issue I've never heard of before.

When using 2300 dpi and 0.32 sens in UT99, I have massive negative acceleration, like the mouse won't track when moving relatively quick. I tried 3 different mouse pads and the issue was the same. At 1150 and 450 dpi, the mouse tracks fine with no negative accel regardless of my UT99 sens- I can set it very high or very low with no issues.

In UT2k4 and other games, using 2300 dpi with any in-game sens works perfectly, with no negative accel.

I've also replicated this exact behavior in both games with different mice (tested both my g5 and ec1 evo at different dpi settings)

It seems UT99 specifically has an issue with high dpi mice? Then again, I know guys like unrealshots claim to use 2000+ DPI, and surely they don't have these unplayable tracking issues. Has anyone else experienced this?

Nah, Meth, the same thing happens with my G5 too. Tested both at all stock dpi settings in multiple games on 3 different mouse pads (2 black, one pink). The only time either mouse had an issue was at 2000+ dpi in UT99.

my zowie EC1-A does the same thing so I just stick with the lower dpi settings and it works flawlessly though I do not have an all black mousepad... fucking razer :OWcaca:

You have no need for a high DPI, so, lower it and your problem is solved.

I'd love to use my high dpi dunno what it is but low dpi and high ingame sens makes shit seem floaty maybe in my head :OWgrinsgasm:

I didn't think about it, though it doesn't explain your specific UT/UT2k4 discrepancy, but another possible issue for a mouse losing tracking at higher speeds can be the direction your mouse pad is. For example, my WMO tracked perfectly fine on my Razer Goliathus Speed when it is was set sideways like so:

but when I used either my Abyssus/DA:BE on it like this, the max tracking was lower than my WMO which is already really low to begin with. When I put back the normal left-to-right position, I couldn't make either lose tracking by swiping as fast as I possibly could.

I use a 2k+ dpi setting and a 0.70 sensi and feel no negative accel, got no software to track that but i don't feel it playing. I try not to move mouse much and try to aim with movement but got one heck of a quick 180 turn :D and tracking someone with minigun, for example, is not hard. Also my aim sucks lolololol xD but no neg accel :|

Mouse is a Halfmman cyber dragon huge firebreath.

Pretty sure I had this problem too, that's why I used 400 DPI. But now I got a G100s which I'm pretty sure has 1000DPI as the lowest native step, and that seems to work mostly fine, however the negative acceleration does seem to kick in a little lower than I thought it should. I guess I could try using the lower DPI settings through Logitech's software, but they are interpolated so I'm not sure that would be any better.
