Help With My INI's (Please)

Postby Serenity » Thu Mar 19, 2015 6:11 am

Hi Unreal Tournamenters.

I'm uploading my actual INI's for the first time without them being fakes solely 'cos I want help with them. They're nothing special at all, more has been made of them than what they actually are, so feel free to download 'em just to use and not help me, but jussayin', if you do, change your axis speed, MouseSmoothThreshold and general movement keys.

Anyway, to the point... I auto-dodge like nothing I've ever seen before. I've tried several different things to try and fix it (my MDCT has been changed 20024827249x, so please don't say "you're using 'x' and that's why"). I've used different keyboards and USB slots, also my UT framerate drops 10-20FPS for about 20 seconds at a time every minute or so; that may not sound like much, but it's enough for my xhair + overall game to stutter and throw me off. Finally, my mouse movement when I move it right is hugely hindered. I've been putting up with it for about 2 years now, but I'm getting fed up of it and kinda wanna start playing again. I'm asking people to check if it's just my PC somehow and if I should be looking into that or if it's the INI's themselves.

Here are some additional settings that may/may not help, I dunno what I'm looking for, so:

As I said before, if you download them just to use them, then enjoy, otherwise thanks in advance for any help.

*Edit*

I also use aspect ratio in GPU settings, so it's not actually full screen, it has like a black border, so to speak. Just incase, y'know.

Not read all but most important is
MinDesiredFrameRate=28.000000 :geek:

MinDesiredFrameRate=Your computer screen

I have a 75 hertz so
MinDesiredFrameRate=75.000000

did you try a new mouse? I don't remember hearing about any UT settings that could hinder mouse movement only to the right

Have you added your cpuspeed to your unreal tournament shortcut, e.g c:/ut/ut.exe -cpuspeed 3200 , it helps if your fps are inconsistent.

Can't post much more ATM, can't get to my computer today.

max pre-rendered frames = 4 change to 1 in the nvidia settings. will look at ini later and see what else could change.

user.ini

[Engine.PlayerPawn]
DodgeClickTime=0.150000 change to DodgeClickTime=0.250000

[GlobalUnrealv0_9b.O0000O00OOOOO]
MinDodgeClickTime=0.000000 change to MinDodgeClickTime=0.030000

if the newnet setting works for you you will have to change it in all the different version which are being used on servers. 9b is common tho. try moving the number up until you find a good fit.

Don't use a multi core fix and let the game run with all your cores. ACE will take care of the rest and make the game run correctly.

Change the Max rendered frames from 4 to 1 and make sure you run all Windows updates + update your NVIDIA drivers to the latest.

Make sure all the power saving stuff is off on the BIOS.

PS. When was the last time you reinstalled Windows? maybe your computer had some malware and is causing some issues.

The FPS issue is fixed, I assume it was the pre-rendered frames, so thank you for that.

The rest is still happening though. I don't have any malware. I scan every night with Malwarebytes, so unless it bypasses that, I've not had a virus for a long, long time. Not tried what SJA94 suggested, I wouldn't know how to.
Power settings is on high and I don't use a corefix.

Also the problems your having Serenity could be a PC issue. I get random fps drops and stutters and cannot figure out why I've basicly figured its something PC related because it doesn't just do it in UT... it does it on other games and also watching movies it will do the same bullshit. It could be many things wrong with my PC I just dont know what until I either buy new PC components piece by piece or just buy a whole new PC instead which is probably the best choice for me. Most of my parts are mostly from 2008-2009~ minus keyboard/mouse/monitor and possibly my videocard which is from early 2010. OH YEA and a 2014 HDD ;)

Idk why you'd ever need the cpuspeed setting on any relatively modern desktop PC. Serenity isn't getting framedrops now, and such a thing isn't going to fix autododging issues, regardless.

MinDesiredFrameRate does absolutely nothing with the modern d3d8/d3d9/opengl renderers.

Lots of things can cause autododging in UT. One thing that may help is to disable EIST in your BIOS if it's enabled. It's usually under processor or power related settings.

I have DodgeClickTime=0.250000 and MinDodgeClickTime=0.000000 and I don't have any autododging issues, so those settings might be worth trying if you haven't already. Using DodgeClickTime=0.150000 is pretty odd, I wonder if that was causing issues before.

PS. Why do you use such strange aspect ratio/in-game resolution settings Serenity? I've seen guys in counter strike use weird in-game res settings too and I have no idea what the purpose is.

I had autododge bad with my logitech keyboard. Went to a mechanical keyboard, (corsair) and have not the issue again.

I notice thru my nvidia options if I turn off Thread optimization I start dodging like fucking crazy but if its on I don't.

I've always had trouble getting UT99 to run smoothly. Between auto-dodging and missing the easiest of shots, it just feels completely unnatural. About 80% of the time I'll have weird shot lag and the other 20% I'll hit everything with ease and no shot lag. It seems to come in cycles and I've never been able to figure out why or how, regardless of ini that I use. Maybe sometime I can tinker with the nvidia settings some more to see if that helps if I ever come back to play.
