Dear OwnedWellians,

Effective immediately.. FALLACY will be unbanned from #iPug and competitive play. FALLACY was banned back in May 2014 when a compelling case with detailed evidence was brought up against him. It took several months to process but in the end, the GlobalUnreal anti-cheat team (including me) voted to ban him. In hindsight, if we had all of the information that we have today, we would have voted differently.

The option to appeal the ban was offered to FALLACY after he was banned. For several months, FALLACY was making cases and bringing up points but there was nothing compelling enough to overturn the ban. That changed after he discovered pertinent evidence and information on an external hard drive that was analyzed and compared by the anticheat team. The new information was more than enough to create reasonable doubt and reflection and that is why FALLACY will be returning as a regular member of the OwnedWell community.

This unban is almost as hasty as the original ban. Why not have in-person verification done prior to a decision, since it was seemingly very close to fruition?

If an innocent gets unjustly punished, haste is often the reason. I'm not talking purely time, either. If Fallacy is innocent, more time should have been spent in reviewing the methods used to "catch" him, as clearly they were off base. This would have prevented the unjust ban in the first place. In turn, now that he is unbanned - if he does, indeed, cheat, the in-person verification could very well have led to him performing poorly/demos show his aim is not nearly the same as in the evidence reviewed, thus reenforcing the ban. Because the unban was announced prior to the in-person verification, we will never find out the truth.

Wether or not fallacy was cheating I guess will remain unknown. But, I will say that I think it's the correct move to unban him given that he was banned for way less then any of the countless evidence that has been put forth on gizmo, so it wouldn't be right to keep him banned.

Here is how she goes

1. Sweeping (what I was banned for) is now considered by this genius group of admins to be totally a normal way to aim in this game. Sweeping across your screen extremely fast, yet still managing to fire your weapon on the very edge of hit hitbox 40 times in one map. That's normal now guys, very normal. Just make sure you spam, and intentionally miss from time to time to keep your acc down. Otherwise, you'll shoot 60 acc aiming this way like I did.. and you might get banned, herp derp.

2. If you were really bad, or average at best then suddenly became better then everyone over night... Don't worry, that's normal too. Logical thinking has no place in catching cheaters. Just tell everyone you got a fancy new computer, and changed the way you aim to sweeping across your screen as quickly as possible. Having a new computer does magical things.. don't worry, they'll believe you.

3. Some videos, screen shots, or otherwise starting to come down on you from people who know you're cheating? Hey, don't worry! Just lie some more, come up with ridiculous bullshit reasoning to explain the shit you pull every map. The anti-cheat team will believe you, so don't worry. But look, if you're feeling a bit scared.. don't panic! Just post a video of yourself livestreaming! It doesn't matter if you're playing notably worse while streaming, or that it's very easy to cheat while streaming, it doesn't matter!!.. this will put no doubt into the admins mind that you are the most legit player ever.

Things aren't what they used to be, anti-cheat is 13 years old and stops nothing. Demos, used to be a means to catch people.. but have now been proven to be an impossible way to get someone banned. Because, nothing short of shooting 70 acc every pug and doing a 1080 sweep monster kill will get you banned.

The Anti Cheat Team (LOLOLOL) none of them play UT, or care, but don't worry.. according to them they are all experts on cheats and what to look for.. The game will remain clean under their watch.
