MEETUP COMPLETE:The day started with me getting into Toronto around noon. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and I was just enjoying the vibe of the city. I slowly migrated towards the Skydome and after sitting down for a few minutes, a dashingly handsome Bengali man sat down next to me and asked if I was waiting for someone. This was either PanterA or my devilish charm was having uncanny affects on members of the same sex. Fortunately enough it was PanterA and we chilled and chatted while we waited for rain and Tempus.
rain strolled in about five minutes after and I accidentally flashed his texts.. First sorn in Miami and now PACO standing him up in Toronto? Nuh uh bruh.. me and PanterA linked up with him and we were all kicking it while waiting for Tempus who was driving in from London. During this pre-game phase, I lowered myself and indulged in some street meat. rain coached me on the different vendor umbrellas and advised on which ground up intestines and rejected animal by products would be the most enjoyable.
The first inning starts and we are still waiting on Master Tempus. I start getting worried about his status but he hits me up and lets me know that he is frantically looking for parking. Eventually we all link up and he asks if he's getting banned in #iPug for being late. I laugh.. and then silently consider it.
We bought some seats in the nosebleeds because #YOLO. It was PanterA and Tempus first live Jays games. PACO and rain are savvy Toronto sports veterans and are used to being disappointed by local teams. The game had a slow burn. The final score was 3-2 in favor of TB but we saw a few home runs get crunched. Joey Bats almost managed to get one up in the upper deck but it fell just short of us. I took a four man selfie.. the struggle was real but we gotter'dun (somewhat).
After the game we headed down to the lake and checked out a place called Amsterdam's. They have a huge patio right on the lake and brew some terrific beers. We drowned our sorrows, ordered some food and exchanged stories. The patio was crazy busy but PanterA did some hardcore Bengali bargaining and eventually got a server or someone on the staff to take a group photo (MUCH BETTER THAN WHEN I'M ATTEMPTING A FOUR MAN SELFIE).
We strolled by the lake afterwards, took some video recordings (I'll be mashing them up and posting them) and eventually parted ways roughly 7 hours after we started the meetup. We all got a crazy amount of sun.. I think that me and PanterA came out of the day a few shades darker and that Tempus is nothing short of a genius. At first I was curious about his selection of a
red shirt for a
blue jays but good luck finding any signs of a burn on this man.. IT'S JUST HIS T-SHIRT.
Side-note: rain almost wore his green OwnedWell shirt but explained how he'd look weird wearing green at a Jays game.. as he was saying it, about ten different people wearing green shirts walked past us in all directions. It was perfect.
The first meetup was a great success. I'm hoping that we will start getting more people to come out as we start to do this more often. We will definitely be doing some more stuff locally and a NY meetup is a very real possibly. There were also some musings about doing a crazy community all-inclusive trip at some point but we shall play it by ear. I'll gauge interest from people if the idea ever starts to evolve.
